Albums you should probably listen to: Red Fang - S/T
A little more mainstream this time.
Red Fang are a Stoner Rock/Metal band from Portland, Oregon.
If I were to classify Red Fang it’d be “Party Stoner” as in they’re a perfectly great stoner rock band to chill to, but you can put them on at a fast paced party and nobody will be complaining about it ruining the flow.
As with all stoner material this album is riff heavy to the max with a great mix of different styles of tracks from the Boris-statement-esque Sharks to the slow crush of Human Remain Human Remains and the pure high tempo party that is Prehistoric Dog. At one point or another you will find yourself singing along to a track on this record.
This album has balls and it’s not afraid to swing them around, it’s high energy with a 6 minute break in the middle, and it’s not much of a break, more of a 3ft space between two walls that’s slowly getting smaller as you crawl through.
Fans often draw a line between Red Fang and Mastodon and I can see where they’re coming from, there is a LOT of sludge metal influence in this record (this particular one was released on Sargent House, the same label as Boris and the Album proceeding this was released on Relapse, the same label as Mastodon) but that connection is much more noticeable on their second album Murder the Mountains (I’ll also recommend that album, it’s mint).
The production of this album is brilliant too, every instrument is as clear as day so the two guitars and bass are easily separated from each other rather than being a muddy mess which is frankly brilliant since I always seem to lose the bass in heavier stuff.
Overall, A Heavy, high energy crushing album that is not afraid to party.
For Fans of:
Mastodon
Boris(Pink, Heavy Rocks, Smile and Akuma No Uta style stuff)
Kvelertak
Favourite Tracks:
Human Remain Human Remains (Listen)
Prehistoric Dog (Listen - Hilariously Awesome Video)
Sharks (Listen)

(got 2 more of these, queued them for later)
